Guo Dongming, President of DUT Meets Thom Palstra, President of University of Twente

On the afternoon of April 25th, Guo Dongming, President of the Dalian University of Technology met Thom Palstra, President of the University of Twente in the main building room 512. Both sides had a friendly conversation, reached an agreement on exploring new areas and patterns of cooperation and signed the memorandum. The meeting also featured Vice President Ning Guiling and representatives of the International Office, School of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Institute of Science and Technology.

Mr.Guo said that the Dalian University of Technology has worked with the government, universities, and enterprises for a long time especially with the University of Twente. Two sides have signed a framework agreement in 2008. The two universities have strengthened bilateral cooperation in science and technology and student exchanges, and established great cooperative relationship. The visit of Mr. Palstra could help two sides know each other better and reach an agreement on more cooperative areas. Mr. believed that it would promote their cooperation into a new level and make more contributions to further exchanges of two countries in science, technology and culture. At the meeting, two sides watched the propaganda films of the two universities and signed the memorandum on cooperation.

University of Twente located at Enschede- the biggest city in the east is one of the 13 key national research universities belonging to the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Netherlands.

The university has six faculties: Behavioural Sciences, School of Management and Governance, Science and Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Engineering Technology with International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation incorporated in 2010.
